The lower section of the Provo River flows from Deer Creek Dam and it can be accessed by way of Highway 189 from the mouth of Provo Canyon, not far from the state’s third largest city, Provo.
The lower section of the Provo river is arguably the best trout fishery in all of the western United States, with anglers doting on the high concentration of wild brown trout in the area.
Large brown trout are taken regularly, with most measuring in between 14 and 18 inches. Along with brown trout, this blue-ribbon stretch of water is home to a number of different species including the Bonneville Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Mountain Whitefish.

Located in the Riverdale area, Weber River can be accessed by way of the Highway 89 bridge. Though the Weber River is smaller than the Provo River, it still manages to narrowly rival its counterpart in trout total, offering everything from rainbows to cutthroats measuring from 16-18 inches.
Plan your visit accordingly because the Weber River has some exceptional hatches throughout the year, including its spectacular early season caddis hatch. Although much of the river is occupied by private property, public access points are available.

This 15-30 foot wide coldwater river offers a natural flow of water that promotes an excellent habitat for fish to spawn and flourish. Located near Cache County, the Logan River can be accessed via Highway 89.
This beautiful spot is a great destination for a family-fun fishing adventure. Three reservoir-like impoundments near the city of Logan are stocked regularly with rainbow trout to let you fish right from the shore with bait. The river between the impoundments has large populations of rainbow, albino, and brown trout.
Because it is easier to access, the roughly 3.5 mile stretch from the dam upstream to Card Canyon Bridge is more heavily fished than the upper stretches. Snowmelt makes this river virtually un-fishable throughout most of June, so plan your visit around the seasonal changes!
