Everyone loves a good game of suspense, paranoia, and nervous laughter! And a glowing campfire is the perfect setting for a game like this. With eyes darting cautiously and quickly around the campfire, will the sly “Sandman” be discovered before they’ve claimed all their victims? Or will they be sneaky enough to wink their way to victory? Gather your family and friends, take a seat by the crackling fire, and prepare to be surrounded by intrigue and deception.
Here’s how you play:
Gather at least 4-5 people around the campfire. For each person playing, tear that many pieces of paper. Write “Sandman” on ONE of the pieces. Leave the other pieces blank. Put them all in a hat. Pass the hat around the fire for everyone to secretly draw a piece of paper and look at it (without anyone else seeing it). Whoever draws the “Sandman” piece is “it.”
The goal of the Sandman is to put everyone else around the campfire to sleep by winking at them one-by-one without being discovered by anyone. If a player gets winked at, they have to pretend to fall fast asleep. If a player thinks they have figured out who the Sandman is, they call it out to uncover them and the game is over. But be careful … if a player is mistaken and calls out the wrong person, they have to sit out the next round.
